Neymar has denied Carlo Ancelotti’s claim that he wasn’t called up to the Brazil squad over fitness concerns.
The Santos striker was left out of Ancelotti‘s second squad with the national team, and his first with Neymar available.
Explaining his decision at the time, the legendary Italian said: “Neymar, we don’t need to test him.
“Everyone knows him. Like the others, he must arrive in good physical condition to help the national team give their best at the World Cup.”
Neymar has since responded to those comments, saying: “I think they left me out for technical reasons; I don’t think it has anything to do with my physical condition.”
Further expanding on a recent missed game, he said: “I had an inflammation in my adductor muscle. It was annoying, but nothing serious.
“I even played today. Against Bahia, I wasn’t going to play (due to suspension). So they preferred to leave me out of training so I could recover.”
