Jose Mourinho has claimed that a video announcing his signing for Real Madrid was made without his permission.
On Wednesday night presidential candidate Florentino Perez put out a campaign video in which he announced Mourinho as his coach.
Mourinho is seen in a Madrid shirt saying ‘YES’ to becoming Real’s manager next season.
However, Record report that Mourinho has told Benfica the video is AI and was made without his knowledge.
It’s important to point out that despite all rumours claiming Mourinho has signed for three years, and the video confirming as much, nothing has been announced.
In fact, Mourinho is still employed by Benfica and is yet to officially reject Rui Costa’s new contract offer.
Instead, Mourinho has entered the second year of his deal with the club, as Perez’s surprise election call meant he couldn’t sign the coach within a window his contract allowed.
Had he not, Mourinho was available to any club for just €3million, but now Madrid will have to pay Benfica €15m.
All of this for a signing video that hasn’t exactly gone down well.
Mourinho still isn’t popular among the majority of Madrid fans after his first stint, let alone just one trophy in nine years.
On the other side, challenger Enrique Riquelme has been making pitches of his own.
So far he’s promised club legend Raul as sporting director, and said that if Rodri and Erling Haaland don’t sign, he’ll refund membership fees.
Responding to Perez’s Mourinho announcement, Riquelme said: “He’s a good coach, but our project has a completely different style. I don’t like Mourinho for my project.
“I have another coach in mind. I can’t say his name, but he’s perhaps the biggest star in the world after the Real Madrid players.”
Many rumours suggest his candidate is Jurgen Klopp, despite the German insisting he’s retired.
If such an idea isn’t unbelievable enough, Riquelme’s stunt of announcing Haaland as one of his signings hasn’t gone down well.

Manchester City have responded with a statement threatening legal action.
“The stories that have emerged from Spain regarding Erling Haaland’s future are false,” a spokesperson said.
“There is no possibility of this happening, and there is no contractual clause that allows it.
“We are considering legal action for the use of our player’s image in this context.”
