Lyon’s appeal over their administrative Ligue 1 relegation has been overturned on appeal.
The club received notice of their preliminary relegation in December 2024 unless they got their finances in order, which they then failed to do under president John Textor.
A hearing in front of the Ligue 1’s financial watchdog, the DNCG, ratified the club’s relegation on June 25, but with a right to appeal.
OL have done that, and in the meantime Textor also gave up his presidency for American compatriot and head of the women’s team, Michele Kang.
Kang was present as Lyon’s appeal was heard on July 9th, with the DNCG announcing their decision.
“Overturn and control of the payroll and transfer compensation in the proposed 2025/2026 Ligue 1 budget,” they confirmed to the rejoice of supporters.
