Lyon’s Ligue 1 survival has been confirmed, and details are now emerging which may leave John Textor red-faced.
The controversial former OL president stepped aside from his role after the DNCG ratified their December decision to administratively relegate the French giants.
The DNCG overturned their decision over a week later on appeal when new chairman, Michele Kang, turned up with €87million ready to go, rather than the promise of future transfer funds.
Yet L’Equipe add that Textor not being allowed back was another factor.
As per RMC Sport, they claim: “John Textor’s withdrawal, which left the keys to the truck to the Kang-Gerlinger duo, also helped OL convince the DNCG.
“Part of Wednesday’s hearing (2.5 hours in total) focused on the now-former Lyon president.
“To gain the trust of the body, Kang had to guarantee that Textor’s return to the club’s decision-making structure was impossible.”
