Bayern Munich’s signing of Luis Diaz is facing more criticism, this time from Sami Khedira.
The Colombian’s arrival from Liverpool has raised questions due to his age, 28, and fee, €75million.
Yet despite the complaints, it couldn’t have started much better for Diaz who scored in pre-season, and then again in the Super Cup.
In fact, his Super Cup goal against Stuttgart was the match winner, making it 2-1.
Yet one of Germany’s 2014 World Cup winners isn’t convinced.
Khedira said on Sport1: “He lacks a connection to the game; he doesn’t speak German or good English. That takes time.
“He had some good ideas, but he still needs time. He had a few moments, even outmanoeuvring Vagnoman once.
“He’s 28 years old, and on the wing, you need explosiveness and speed in the first few meters.
“And with many players, you can see that they lose their explosiveness in one-on-one situations at the age of 30 or 31.
“It remains to be seen whether Bayern will manage to move him to the centre. That’s my only concern, but we’ll talk about that again in two or three years.”
