Kylian Mbappe was quick to snub out a new narrative after his latest man of the match display for Real Madrid.
The France captain scored all four goals in a 4-3 Champions League win over Olympiacos and now has 22 for the season, 17 more than Madrid‘s next top scorer, Vinicius Jr.
Headlines are starting to be written about ‘Mbappedependencia’ or depending on Mbappe, but the striker was having none of it.
“I don’t mean to disrespect you, but that’s a bad question,” he replied to one reporter.
“Everyone has a role in the team, mine is to score goals. I can say that without the other players, we don’t win matches.
“I don’t think it’s a dependency, that’s something journalists talk about.”
He also took time to praise assist machine Vinicius, adding: “It’s an honour for me to play with a player of his quality. He understands football like few others.”
