UPDATE: 12/6/2026 – Juventus confirm CEO swap
Juventus have now confirmed Comolli’s departure and Carnevali’s arrival.
The club said in a statement: “After joining Juventus in June 2025, Damien Comolli has resigned from the Club today.
“Everyone at Juventus would like to thank Damien for his dedication during his time at the Club and wishes him all the best for the future.”
They then added: “The Juventus FC Board of Directors today approved the appointment of Giovanni Carnevali as CEO and General Manager of the Club, entrusting him with the managerial leadership of the Club with the aim of strengthening the Bianconeri’s sporting and industrial project.
“One of the most highly regarded executives in the sporting world, Giovanni brings significant managerial skills to Juventus.
“A footballer by vocation and passion, Giovanni has dedicated his professional life to this sector, gaining experience and assuming increasingly significant responsibilities, which have allowed him to develop a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics that govern modern football and its prospects for evolution.
“In particular, throughout his career, he has contributed significantly to the growth and success of Sassuolo Calcio, which over time has become a recognized example of sustainability, innovation, talent development, and the ability to create value, both on and off the pitch.
“As a Lega Serie A Director, he has also contributed to the main discussion groups dedicated to the evolution and growth of Italian professional football.”
Comolli himself commented: “I have decided to leave my position as Chief Executive Officer of Juventus Football Club with immediate effect. I would like to thank John Elkann and Exor for offering me the opportunity to work for this prestigious club.
“I would also like to thank all my Juventus colleagues for their commitment, professionalism, and dedication, wishing all the women’s and men’s teams the best of luck for the upcoming season.
“Finally, a special thanks goes to the Juventus fans for their incredible support. They are the ones who make this Club a truly unique and special place.”
Damien Comolli will leave his role as Juventus CEO after just one season.
Multiple reports in Italy claim the separation will be made official tomorrow afternoon when a board meeting is held.
Comolli, who shot to fame with Liverpool, was brought in from Toulouse after relative success back in his native France.
However, things haven’t gone to plan at Juve with a season finishing outside of the Champions League places.
Comolli has taken a large percentage of the blame for a number of failed signings, such as Jonathan David and Lois Openda who both flopped up front.
Despite those failures and tension with coach Luciano Spalletti, Comolli was working towards the 2026/27 season, with his departure coming as a surprise.
The same reports explain that his exit is actually due to circumstances, with Sassuolo’s Giovanni Carnevali becoming available and a dream choice for the Juve board.
As such, they held a meeting today in which Comolli agreed to resign.

On top of failures in the transfer market, Comolli disgraced himself in February.
During a derby against Inter he had every right to be annoyed as Pierre Kalulu was sent off for an Alessandro Bastoni dive.
However, he went way too far in the tunnel at half-time and had to be held back from the referee, later receiving a ban for ‘aggressive and seriously intimidating behaviour’.
Speaking after the incident, he said: “What happened tonight is a disgrace. It must never happen again.
“It’s happened time and time again, and tonight is the perfect example of what we’ve seen all season.
“To see this happen in front of the whole world is simply scandalous.”
