Jose Mourinho may not know who Lyon’s head coach is, but he definitely knows the team owner.
The two-time Champions League winner saw his Fenerbahce side draw 0-0 with OL in the Europa League last night, but not before some awkwardness pre-match.
Mourinho went over to shake the hand of Lyon‘s coach Pierre Sage pre-match and it appears he didn’t know who he was.
Instead of greeting Abdeljelil Redissi, the physio then pointed over at Sage, with Mourinho pulling out an awkward look of surprise.
Yet, as he proved post-match, this wasn’t a sign of disrespect or mind games, as he went on to flatter Sage and tackle controversial club over John Textor.
“This team is a good team, and a team is a good team if it has a good coach,” he said in French before discussing Lyon’s struggles more broadly.
“Football today is made up of clubs with owners and presidents who don’t understand anything about football.
“It’s no longer presidents like Jean-Michel Aulas who stay for 20 years, who understand football.”
