LaLiga president Javier Tebas has confirmed that LaLiga will appear in Sevilla’s court case against Real Madrid.
Sevilla have decided to act against Real Madrid TV putting pressure on referees with a number of highlight packages and controversial statements.
RMTV have taken to publishing highlights of officials’ errors against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and recently made headlines by saying “Xavi’s 600 matches with Barça are suspect” in reference to the Negreira affair.
Sevilla denounced what they called a ‘campaign’ against referee Díaz de Mera before a recent game between the two sides, and said in a statement that they would be taking the issue further with the Spanish FA (RFEF).
Tebas was asked if LaLiga would be involved in Sevilla’s case, and replied: “Yes, I already said it.
“We are not entitled to file a complaint, but we are going to appear, and I think that the issue of Real Madrid TV is an issue that goes against good sporting order.
“It’s okay to criticize, to say that sometimes things aren’t good, but constantly the nagging, the superiority, when I believe that Real Madrid, as a club, cannot have that argument.”
The debate is now whether Real Madrid TV is part of the club itself, which could lead to a sanction.
Commenting on the matter, Tebas added: “I have not studied the subject, but Real Madrid TV is the official organ of the club, because, in accordance with Royal Decree 5/2015, it is where they broadcast the matches on a delayed basis at the end of each day.
“The reality is that it is the official organ of Real Madrid.”
