Vincent Kompany has given a positive update on Jamal Musiala.
The Bayern Munich attacker fainted in two pre-season friendlies and hasn’t been seen since, missing the DFL Supercup and season-opening win over Stuttgart.
After the second incident Musiala was quick to explain it was a known issue that wasn’t life threatening and was under control.
Bayern added that they’d known for over a year and the fainting was due to a change in medication.
Musiala hasn’t even been at the stadiums for Bayern’s first two games of the season, but Kompany has revealed he’s back in full training.
Kompany gives Musiala return update
Before a cup match against Osnabruck, he said: “I still need to have that conversation before I can give any updates.
“What is certain is that Serge [Gnabry] will not be involved tomorrow. Lennart Karl’s is back with the team and has already gotten his first minutes on the pitch again, which is very good news for us.
“Normally, the same would apply to Jamal, but I have to be honest: we have these discussions every day, and we haven’t had today’s discussion yet. That’s why I can’t give you a definitive answer right now.
“He has actually trained very well this week. Everything in training has gone exactly as we would have hoped.”
Explaining when Musiala could return to action, he finished: “Now it’s simply a matter of speaking with the specialists, with Jamal himself, and making sure we choose the right moment for his return.
“Whether that moment is tomorrow, this weekend, or next week, I can’t tell you at this point.”
Earlier playing down fears over Musiala’s long term future, sporting director Max Eberl said: “Of course, we hope that Jamal will be back soon, because he is an incredibly important player for the club, for us as a team, for all of Germany.
“We all know what he is capable of. We all wish that he will come back. We don’t want to specify the exact date.
“We’ve been working with him for months now, and now the public knows. I understood all the reactions, because we had the same ones the first time. Now it’s become somewhat routine.
“Now something has changed in his medication. Nobody wants to take medication. He also wants to take less. He reduced the dosage a bit, now we have to increase it a bit again. So that we can get back to that period with few seizures.”
He added: “Jamal always wanted to be on the pitch. He always said: This is his joy, this is his medicine. He wants to play football, to be with the lads.
“We had repeatedly given him the go-ahead, taking the doctors into account.
“We always asked for the green light, and it was always given. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have done it. That pitch was his sanctuary, and we will get it back. I’m very sure of that.”
