The fallout from Inter’s thrilling 3-2 win over Juventus continues, and it’s all circling around one key moment.
Inter maintained their Serie A lead with a stunning late win, but Juve had to play the whole second half with 10 men.
Pierre Kalulu received a second yellow when Alessandro Bastoni performed an almighty dive for a brush on his arm.
Due to it being a second yellow rather than a straight red, VAR was unable to review the incident and Juve’s staff lost their minds at half-time.
Retrospective Bastoni punishment for diving?
Now it seems like Adriano Panatta is ready to do the same.
The tennis legend turned famous football pundit was discussing the clash and how appalled he was by Bastoni’s dive.
“I watched the match up until the Bastoni incident. It was a good match and I was enjoying it,” he began.
“Then, after that incident, I changed the channel and started watching a film. This is unacceptable and I want to make a proposal…
“Since there’s television evidence, let’s introduce it on diving: anyone who exaggerates by highlighting a very minor foul will be punished with a three-match ban.
“If this rule had existed, would Bastoni have dived? I don’t think so.
“The problem is that players will always continue to dive until they are certain of the punishment. At that point, things will change. I’m certain of that.”
Not only did Bastoni dive, but he was seen celebrating the red card.
The abuse on social media has since been relentless, with Bastoni first disabling comments on his Instagram post from the match, and then deleting it all together.
Good luck returning to the Italy squad…
