Harry Kane’s secret weapon against aging: ‘He’s been with me for 6 years’

Having just become the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, Harry Kane clearly has no interest in slowing down.

Having spent much of his early career on loan, the England captain was a slow starter and now at 33 he’s only getting better.

Kane only won his first ever trophy a year after signing for Bayern Munich in 2025, but now has five to his name and he wants the best individual prize there is.

The striker has the Ballon d’Or on his mind after a 73-goal season, but expects he will only keep getting better even if 2026 isn’t his year.

Explaining how he keeps improving in his 30s, Kane put it down to his own personal doctor.

Promoting Spaniard Alejandro Elorriaga in an interview with AS, he said: “We’ve been together for six and a half years now, and he’s one of the main reasons why I can play at this level and play so many matches.

“It’s no coincidence that I’ve continued to improve in recent years because, as some people think, at this age, performance tends to decline. But in my case, almost the opposite has happened.

“Honestly, I feel so good physically and mentally… like never before. I have to make the most of this moment, because as you get older, time doesn’t stretch on forever. But right now, I’m really going through a great period.”

Kane fancies his Ballon d’Or chances

Asked about his chances of the Ballon d’Or he added: “I’ve never really liked talking about myself.

“The only thing I’ll say is that last season was incredible, both personally and for the team. It was, by far, the best season of my life.

“It’s true that scoring 73 goals, the second-highest total in history, speaks for itself. I’m extremely proud of that. But the Ballon d’Or isn’t in my hands. It depends on the people who vote.”

When asked if he’s a good omen that the ceremony takes place in London, he finished: “Yes, many people have told me that, and perhaps it is a good sign.

“Of course, the fact that it’s in my hometown would make the event even more special. So yes, it’s a strange feeling that it’s happening there this year.”
