Harry Kane had plenty of reason to be pleased after scoring in Bayern Munich’s Super Cup win, but after he appeared to question the club’s transfer policy.
The England captain was on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win over Stuttgart, claiming his second career trophy after a Bundesliga win last season.
Yet he didn’t seem too hopeful about Bayern’s chances this campaign while speaking to the media post-match.
“It’s one of the smallest squads I’ve ever played in,” Kane said.
“We’re a bit thin, if we’re honest – but from our perspective, we, the players, can’t influence that.
“It’s up to Max (Eberl – sporting director), Christoph (Freund – sporting director) and the coach to make these kinds of decisions.”
Bayern let go of Thomas Muller, Eric Dier and Leroy Sane at the end of their contracts, while Mathys Tel, Kingsley Coman and Joao Palhinha all departed.
Luis Diaz and Jonathan Tah have both joined, but a broken leg for Jamal Musiala has complicated things even further.
