Marseille’s never-ending crisis continues, and this time it may be Habib Beye who has to take to brunt.
OM were humiliated 3-0 by 17th-place Nantes in yet another damning result full of them.
Arguably still France’s biggest side, Marseille are sixth in Ligue 1 and could be about to lose out on European football.
This season has seen a change in coaches, president and a sporting director resign then return.
Yet for current head coach Habib Beye, who replaced the sacked Roberto De Zerbi, he hasn’t really got any excuses.
The defeat was his fifth in 10 games, perhaps ending his chances of keeping the job next season.
No OM coach has such a bad record after 10 games since 1984, a whole 38 managers ago.
Habib Beye calls out Marseille players
Beye has likely lost the fans, and made sure it was the players too with his post-match comments.
“We all saw the same match; it’s very difficult to analyze it right now because there’s nothing there,” Beye told Ligue 1+.
“There’s no life in what we’re doing, no quality. Our opponents are superior.
“For me, there’s no analysis because we didn’t even play. Today, we were empty. “
He added: “We can’t expect to qualify for the Champions League with a performance like that.
“Today, mentally, we showed nothing. We got nothing from the team.
“It’s hard to explain given the work they put in all week. I could have substituted 80-90% of the team at halftime.
“We had few positives. There were a few, like Jeffrey de Lange, who kept us in the game when it should have been 2-0 at halftime.
“The performance we delivered today is unacceptable for a club like ours.”
