The Greek Cup final between Panathinaikos and Aris Thessaloniki was behind closed doors and officiated by a foreign official, Stéphanie Frappart, but it still descended into chaos.
Panathinaikos won the match at the Panthessaliko Stadio 1-0 thanks to a goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time from Georgios Vagiannidis, but the game ended three men down.
Frappart handed out the cards in the 51st, 65th and 71st minutes, with one to Panathinaikos and two to Aris.
A world-class referee who officiates in the Champions League and World Cup, the Greek FA was lucky to land the record-breaking Frenchwoman, but Aris certainly didn’t feel the same way.
With the stadium already closed due to fan violence, the Aris players then took it upon themselves to attack Frappart post-match, and she then had to be protected and escorted off the pitch by police.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Aris then posted a picture of Frappart across their social media channels along with the caption ‘robbery’.
