Further information has emerged on Erik ten Hag’s historical sacking at Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Manchester United manager was fired after just three games with the 2024 Bundesliga champions, and both sides have offered cold responses to the news.
BILD now report that Ten Hag’s future was doomed early on as he overreached when it came to transfer business.
They claim that Ten Hag’s decision to say Granit Xhaka wasn’t for sale went against an agreement with his seniors and he was quickly taken out of the club’s inner circle which includes sporting director Simon Rolfes and CEO Fernando Carro.
BILD also claim that Rolfes admits the signing was ‘the biggest mistake of his career’ although his quick move to correct it has been seen as a show of strength by the club’s board.
