More details have emerged on Erik ten Hag’s historical sacking at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Dutchman was let go after just two Bundesliga games which were a defeat and draw.
Speculation was rife about the departure being less about results and more about off-field issues, something both parties alluded to in their statements, with Ten Hag saying there was never any ‘mutual trust’.
Well now BILD have explained one example of where that went too far, the signing of Lucas Vazquez behind the coach’s back.
Ten Hag reportedly had no knowledge that a deal for the Real Madrid legend was being made, and meeting him for the first time in training was the final straw which led to his departure six days later.
Elsewhere, it’s also been reported how much Leverkusen had to pay to correct their mistake.
Dutch outlet De Telegraaf claim Ten Hag earned a €6million severance pay-out – not bad for three games and two months work…
