Chelsea players who were baffled to see Donald Trump staying on stage for their celebrations will be surprised to learn he’s also got their trophy.
The US president was on site for the Blues’ 3-0 Club World Cup final win over PSG and hung around as they lifted a trophy.
Yet as it turns out, the prize, which bizarrely comes with a key and Gianni Infantino’s name engraved on it, was a copy.
In an interview with DAZN, Trump revealed: “They said ‘could you hold this trophy for a little while’ we put it in the Oval Office and then we said ‘when are you going to pick up the trophy?’
“He [Infantino] said ‘we’re never going to pick it up you can have it in the Oval Office forever, we’re making a new one’.
“And they actually made a new one, so that was quite exciting.”
