The Madeira Public Security Police have released a statement on an individual who filmed themselves setting Cristiano Ronaldo’s statue on fire.
A video was posted on social media January 20th showing Ronaldo‘s statue outside the CR7 Museum in Funchal being set on fire.
A statement from the PSP read: “The Madeira Public Security Police intercepted and identified the citizen responsible for setting fire to the statue of Cristiano Ronaldo, next to the CR7 Museum, in Funchal.
“The PSP (Portuguese Public Security Police) publicly thanks all citizens who responsibly and promptly reported the incident and shared relevant information.
“This collaboration proved crucial for the rapid identification and interception of the individual in question, allowing for effective and proportionate action.
“Following the investigations carried out and after coordination with the Health Authority, a warrant was issued for transport to the psychiatric emergency room, which was promptly executed by the PSP (Public Security Police), with the greatest possible speed, always ensuring the safety of the individual and third parties.
“The PSP (Portuguese Public Security Police) emphasizes that security is a shared responsibility, in which the active contribution of the population plays a fundamental role.
“The timely reporting of anomalous or risky situations allows for a faster, more effective and appropriate intervention, contributing decisively to public tranquillity and the protection of people and property.”
