Bank of Portugal release statement on Cristiano Ronaldo 7 euro note rumours

The Bank of Portugal have had to put out a rather unusual press release on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rumours circulated that the organisation were planning a special edition €7 note ahead of the 2026 World Cup where Ronaldo will captain the side.

However, they were just rumours, with a comprehensive statement since released.

“The Bank of Portugal has had to correct a post circulating on social media, where fake images announcing the creation of a 7-euro banknote featuring Cristiano Ronaldo have been circulating for several days.

“The Bank of Portugal clarifies that it has not issued, put into circulation, nor does it plan to issue or put into circulation any banknote alluding to the individual in question.”
