The coach of sixth-division Valencian side Manises has given a worrying update after his side’s Copa del Rey clash with Getafe.
Santi Marín spoke to Relevo to update the media on his club which has been struck by storm Dana.
The storm has caused devastation across Spain with 92 deaths already confirmed, and its epicentre has been Valencia where Manises play.
The sixth-tier Lliga Comunitat side were due to play LaLiga outfit Getae in the first round of the Copa del Rey, but that match has now understandably been cancelled.
Far more worryingly was an update from Marín about his squad.
“I’m worried because I have two players who cannot be located,” he said.
“I prefer to say “not located” rather than “missing”. But one of them lives in Paiporta and Alfafar, two very affected areas.
“If they don’t have electricity they won’t have been able to charge their mobile… I don’t want to think of the worst case… But of course, you always have a point of concern.
“In that situation, you can’t be thinking about football. Besides, we’re already talking about 70 deaths and… it seems that there are going to be many more.”
Manises’ stadium was surprisingly unaffected by the storm, as was Valencia’s Mestalla, but all sport in the city looks set to be cancelled this week.

Manises president Manolo Regalado has confirmed that the players have been found, telling Cadena SER radio: “They have not been able to leave, but thank God that is all. In terms of health and that, they are all perfect. They have all been found and they are fine. There were two of them that we could not find because there was no communication, a lot of chaos, it has been a difficult time.”
