While there may have been some bias in Thierry Henry’s claim that Como are the best team in Italy, he may have had a point.
A shareholder in the club coached by Cesc Fabregas, Henry has seen his former Arsenal teammate take Como from the second tier to closing in on the Champions League.
With their top four rivals faltering in Europe, there’s a case that Como could prove to be an upgrade next season with more tactical flexibility and a young attacking team.
Fabregas‘ performances have seen him linked with the world’s best sides, but it may be his willingness to learn from others that’s put him in such a good position.

Like the rest of Europe he’s been stunned by their run to the Champions League last 16, and has already implemented a number of lessons.
Como’s three point Bodo-inspired plan
Most notably at the training ground is the erection of a new giant screen at Mozzate to monitor tactics, showing players their movements.
Thrilling coaches such as Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have employed such a method, but from Como Fabregas brought in a drone to show the players a bird’s eye view.
He’s also consulted with the Norwegian side’s nutritionists to put together a Tour de France inspired plan to help with physical stress.
Again, there’s more technology involved, with Como’s players now even monitored with an app when they’re not working at the club.
Thirdly, he’s also implemented analytics that Bodo/Glimt use to track youth team players, getting in more data before he brings up players who are core to his system.
It’s all minor tweaks, but it’s also the kind of forward thinking missing at bigger clubs like Inter, who were knocked out of the Champions League by… Bodo/Glimt.
