Brazil president Lula isn’t much of a fan of the Brazilian national team.
The veteran politician previously joked about Neymar during the tournament, and has now asked Carlo Ancelotti for an explanation.
Brazil put in a limp performance at the 2026 World Cup, knocked out by Norway in the last 16 and hardly impressing beforehand.
The loss came despite plenty of hype, with Brazil leaving Rio like heroes on a plane that was baptised off the runway.
However, upon its return, only Danilo was aboard, with the rest of the squad straight on holidays in the US.
Responding to the news at a public speaking event, Lula said: “I sent a message to Ancelotti, the coach of the Brazilian National Team, the one that went with a huge group and came back alone.
“There was hardly anyone on the team plane back, what a disgrace. Only one player returned on the plane, the rest stayed behind.
“If we had won the Cup, everyone would be celebrating here.”
Ancelotti has also been criticised by Brazil legend Romario who thinks his showing was enough for a resignation.
“He can’t continue as Brazil’s coach, no way,” he said on ‘RomarioTV’.
“If I were in charge of the federation, I would have walked into the locker room, told him to get lost, and terminated his contract on the spot.
“The match against Norway was a disgrace.”
