Besiktas are in an ongoing dispute with Rafa Silva which could see the attacker return to Portugal.
Silva left the club where he made his name and became a Portuguese international in the summer but it hasn’t worked out, with new coach Sergen Yalçın going after the player in the press, saying he hasn’t been able to talk to him.
Silva hasn’t played since the start of November with an injury, but Besiktas have now suggested it doesn’t exist, or at least their scans couldn’t pick it up.
“As a result of the MRI scans performed yesterday on our player Rafa Silva, no pathology was found that could explain his back pain,” the club said in a statement.
“The player, who reported persistent pain and did not participate in today’s session, will receive a treatment program from our medical team with a diagnosis of mechanical low back pain.
“The program was communicated to the player and his representative in writing.
“The process, which is being meticulously monitored by our club, will proceed based on the mutual fulfilment of contractual obligations by both parties. Besiktas will continue to share the process with the public to ensure complete transparency.”
Record state that Silva is still keen to return to Benfica in January, but his former side will only bring him back if he terminates his contract and leaves on a free transfer.
