One of the most anticipated Turkish Süper Lig seasons in living memory has kicked off with Besiktas tearing Galatasary to pieces in the Super Cup curtain raiser.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s new side tore through their Istanbul rivals with a 5-0 win that saw new signings Ciro Immobile and Rafa Silva both score.
The result comes after the most epic of 2023/24 seasons where Galatasaray won the title with a whopping 102 points, compared to Fenerbahce‘s 99.
Besiktas were all the way down in sixth with 56 points, but their new head coach and pair of star signings already look to have made the difference, with Galatasaray played off the park.
The champions have had barely any activity in the transfer market, while the third Istanbul side, Fenerbahce, have added Jose Mourinho and Allan Saint-Maximin.
