With Benfica attempting to defend Gianluca Prestianni against allegations of racism, his character has been brought into question online.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr accused the Argentine of calling him a monkey after his goal in a 1-0 Champions League win.
Kylian Mbappe added that he heard the word five times, while Prestianni covered his mouth with his shirt.
Prestianni has denied the allegations, as have Benfica.
Now with the 20-year-old making headlines across the globe footage of his chequered past has come up.
Back in 2022 Brazil beat Prestianni’s Argentina in the final of the Montaigu Tournament and the Benfica man was once again at the centre of drama.
Playing for Vélez Sarsfield at the time, Brazil’s players attempted to celebrate their win as melees broke out on the pitch.
Cameras quickly circled in on Prestianni, who could be seen wildly running at a Brazilian player and throwing punches.
