Ronaldinho had some intense criticism of Brazil ahead of the Copa America, but Raphinha isn’t buying it.
The footballing icon went on two-footed on his nation’s football team. A video went viral of him saying he wouldn’t watch Brazil, and he then doubled down on his comments in a social media post.
Ronaldinho called the players ‘average’ said they ‘don’t love the shirt’ and ‘can’t play football’.
Responding to the comments, one of the players who grew up idolizing him, Barcelona‘s Raphinha, didn’t hold back.
“It surprised a lot of people. I consider him an idol, a reference,” he began.
“Everyone who is part of the national team, not just the players, but everyone who works here, looks up to him as an example. It was a shock for us.
“I do not agree with what was said, about the lack of motivation and desire, on average players. I don’t agree at all, everyone has quality and merit.
“Did he say that for an advertising campaign? In any case, we were surprised. We also learned from Vinícius that he had asked for tickets to see one of our matches… So that doesn’t fit with what he said.”
