While it’s not quite forcing a Barcelona shirt over Cesc Fabregas, players of the Spanish giants are back getting involved with transfers.
The club have been linked to a high-profile move for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez who has become increasingly unhappy under Diego Simeone.
Undoubtedly one of the game’s elite due to his success with Argentina and Manchester City, Alvarez’s situation will be monitored across the world of football.
Barca, however, are seen as the perfect fit particularly with Robert Lewandowski’s contract expiring this summer.
On top of that, a presidential candidate at the club has reportedly tried to get Alvarez to join his campaign.
As such, Barca’s players are starting to be asked about Alvarez, and haven’t exactly been diplomatic.
Barcelona’s players back Julian Alvarez joining
First up was Ronald Araujo, who said: “He’s a great player; for me, he’s one of the best strikers in the world. You can see the quality he has.
Asked if he should join Barca, he added: “The best players belong at the best club, which is us. That’s obvious.”
Now joining in with him is one of his defensive partners, Pau Cubarsi.
Julián is a spectacular player. I’ve played against him several times and had to defend against him,” the young centre-back said.
“He’s a world-class striker, worthy of Barça.”
