FIFA have ruled in favour of Aymeric Laporte’s transfer to Athletic Bilbao outside of the transfer window.
The Spain defender, who made his name in the Basque country, is expected to complete a move from Al Nassr amid claims they messed up a deadline day move.
MARCA earlier reported that Laporte was even registered as an Athletic player by LaLiga, but Nassr didn’t send over the necessary paperwork on time.
The outlet claimed: “The system didn’t work due to the Saudis’ lack of will to ensure everything was delivered on time.”
Laporte and Athletic’s lawyers have now reportedly received the good news, with multiple reports claiming he’ll be registered before the weel’s fixtures.
It should be noted that the LaLiga side in a defensive crisis following key injuries and a 10-month ban for Yeray Álvarez.
Explaining the situation further, Cadena SER’s Antón Meana said: “Athletic Club sent everything in order, on time, and in the correct manner.
“According to official sources, the transfer was completed before the transfer window closed; it’s documented. The transfer was completed and it’s documented in writing.
“Aymeric Laporte believes that Al-Nassr hasn’t behaved well with him during the summer and that this is yet another example. The player is in a state of complete helplessness.
“Al-Nassr submitted the documentation to the TMS [transfer matching system] late.”
