Germany’s two loudest punditry voices have come down hard on Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger.
The centre back lost his mind at the end of a 3-2 Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona, throwing a bag of ice at the referee from the sidelines.
He then had to be held back by seven teammates, and looks set for a huge ban of at least four games.
That total could even increase to 12 given what was mentioned in the referee’s match report, and he may also have bigger problems back home.
Sky Germany duo Lothar Matthaus and Didi Hamann are by far the biggest voices in his home country’s punditry circles, and weren’t impressed at all.
Hamann commented: “The German Football Association must immediately suspend Rüdiger from the national team.”
While Matthaus added: “He went crazy because he was no longer in control. He’s a German international and should be a role model. He forgot all about that.
“He can be satisfied if the ban is only four matches and not twelve, so, in my opinion, the punishment should be double-digit I expect an XXL ban.”
