Ajax’s first game of 2025 may be their most unique as they drew 2-2 with Stuttgart in a friendly match at the Bundesliga side’s training ground.
What made the training game particularly unique was that Davy Klaassen was able to continue playing despite picking up a red card just before the hour mark.
The Dutch midfielder painfully trod on the ankle of Stuttgart captain Atakan Karazor, and referee Christian Ballweg instantly produced a red card.
Klaassen apologised profusely for the unintentional stamp, and then both coaches, Sebastian Hoeness and Francesco Farioli entered the pitch.
Along with the match official, they agreed that Klaassen could continue, allowing Ajax to finish with 11 men despite having a red card on their record.
