Paris mayoral candidate Pierre-Yves Bournazel has told Achraf Hakimi to put PSG first.
The politician was responding to the news that Hakimi will stand trial for rape, as the defender announced on his social media channels.
Speaking in response, Bournazel told RMC: “I think it’s better for him and for the club if he takes a leave of absence during the trial.
“The allegations against him are very serious. He has the right to the presumption of innocence, but I think that until there are court decisions, to protect the club, to protect everyone, the alleged victim as well as himself, I think it’s important (that he doesn’t play).”
What has Hakimi said about the trail?
Addressing the allegations, Hakimi said: “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I contest it and everything proves that it is false.
“It is as unfair to the innocent as it is to sincere victims. I await this trial calmly, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
