Two surprise teams could have an impact on Jose Mourinho’s future at Roma.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager is aiming for a two-year extension in Italy, but the club were hoping for a year less, according to Gazzetta Italia.

Mourinho won Roma their first silverware since 2008 with the 2022 Europa Conference League, and then took them to the Europa League final a year later.

Now challenging for the top four, fans love the coach, despite mixed performances resulting in bizarre criticism of his players and referees.

Roma fans aren’t the only ones keen, with Gazzetta also reporting that Newcastle and Real Madrid are too.

Newcastle’s Saudi owners remain huge fans of Mourinho after failing to tempt him to the Saudi Pro League during the summer, while he remains a candidate to return to Madrid should Carlo Ancelotti leave for Brazil.
