Rayo Vallecano’s star winger Isi Palazón has revealed that he is undergoing treatment for the mental health issues.
The stand-out Rayo star explained to ‘Vaya Vaina’ on YouTube: “Last year, due to the pressure I had, because perhaps it was the peak of my career, I had a strange summer.
“At Pozo’s farewell in Ibiza, I didn’t feel like myself or happy. I was tired, had a headache. I thought I was going to have a heart attack and die.
“Things that had never happened to me. Then came the wedding, and I told my teammates there.
“The best thing I did was to tell my family, my teammates, and contact a professional. It’s the best decision I made.”
Palazon went on to explain how social media has impacted his health.
“There are people who may not know that many things affect you,” he said.
“That’s why I don’t like to compare seasons. Last season, I scored many goals, and this one not so much, maybe because of social media.
“But do you know the problems any footballer might be going through for you to say what you want on social media?
“These are moments that, as footballers, are very difficult.
“On the day of the Villarreal match, I had to ask for a substitution because I felt awful. I couldn’t breathe on the field and asked the coach for a substitution.
“I was in the locker room, they asked me what was wrong, and I didn’t answer. I left, saw my family and my girlfriend, and told them.
“My mother and my partner didn’t notice it, but now I’m better. The locker room has been crucial in this regard.”
