Barcelona manager Xavi has admitted that Pedri has stopped enjoying football after a series of debilitating injuries.

The 20-year-old wunderkind returned to the Barca line-up at the weekend after 72 days out, suffering with yet another long-term issue.

Pedri burst onto the scene with the Catalans in 2020 and was named European Golden Boy a year later.

However, that season he was forced to play a mammoth 73 games for club and country, and is still suffering from the after-effects.

International teammate Pau Torres had commented in an interview with Relevo that he fears Pedri is no longer enjoying football, and those comments were put to manager Xavi.

“I agree,” Xavi began.

“I enjoy it when he enters the field like he did the other day. Pedri enjoys playing with us a lot.

“But the injuries have not made him enjoy football in many moments.”
