According to Le Parisien, Warren Zaïre-Emery is expected to be included in France’s senior squad on Thursday.

The first call-up for the 17-year-old teenager wouldn’t be, strictly speaking, a surprise.

The captain of the U21 team indeed consistently delivers strong performances for PSG, almost like a metronome. He scored against Brest (3-2) and repeated the feat against Montpellier (3-0) on Friday, November 3.

At the same time, he left a lasting impression during the first leg of the Champions League match against AC Milan (3-0). Under the watchful eyes of the French national team coach, Didier Deschamps, who was present at Parc des Princes that evening,

“WZE” stood out with his power and composure in a midfield duo alongside Manuel Ugarte. His ability to shine in the Champions League is a hallmark of greatness and remains a crucial criterion in Deschamps’ eyes.

Present at the Théâtre du Châtelet for the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, October 30, Deschamps was once again questioned about Warren Zaïre-Emery’s sparkling form since the start of the season, during an interview with the L’Équipe channel.

He was quite effusive in his praise, saying, “I like him, yes, I’ve already said it. He’s liked by many. With his young age, he shows a lot of maturity and consistently delivers top-level performances.

“It’s a very good thing. He’s French, and he’s likely to be selected sooner or later.”

Thierry Henry, the U21 national team coach, is preparing to lose his gem for the match against Austria on November 17 in the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

The former Arsenal legend had lavished praise on WZE after his performance against Milan.

“The way Warren plays, it’s only natural for him to lead at 17 years old,” enthused Henry.

“He was the only one standing at St James’ Park (during the 4-1 loss to Newcastle). He’s magnificent right now, and I know people will say ‘he’s one of your players.’ Yes, that’s true, but it has nothing to do with that.

“He’s exceptional – the sky’s the limit. I’ve never seen such a young player be so mature.”
