Alphonso Davies is closing in on a summer move to Real Madrid.

As previously revealed by AS, Real Madrid has long seen the Canadian left-back as a primary target to bolster one of the team’s weakest positions.

Conversations with his agent, Nedal Huoseh, have grown more intense in recent weeks.

Born in a Ghanaian refugee camp to parents who fled the civil war in Liberia, the player is willing to depart from Bayern Munich to don the white jersey in the summer of 2024, a year before his current contract with the Bavarian club expires.

Bayern Munich, unsuccessful in their attempts to renew his contract on several occasions, has made preparations by signing Raphäel Guerreiro (29), a left-back from Borussia Dortmund with seven seasons of experience.

The Portuguese international joined last summer after his contract with Munich’s arch-rival Dortmund expired, signing until 2026. Although he has faced physical challenges since his arrival in Bavaria, he has yet to pose a substantial threat to Davies’ position. Nonetheless, his full recovery appears imminent.

The German champions, aware of the situation, are willing to enter negotiations next summer instead of allowing their player to depart for free in 2025.

Sport Bild, a well-informed media outlet concerning matters related to Germany’s most formidable club, has already reported that the Allianz Arena has set a price for his transfer: 50 million euros.

Real Madrid, in principle, is reluctant to meet this sum, but the establishment of a valuation by the Germans serves as a starting point and a positive sign.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern, will play a crucial role in maximizing the transfer fee for the Canadian. His current valuation on Transfermarkt stands at 70 million euros. Dreesen, appointed CEO in May of this year after a decade at the club, is the key figure in the negotiations and played a pivotal role in the signing of Harry Kane.

Several English clubs, especially Manchester City and Chelsea, are also displaying significant interest in acquiring Davies. Both the player and his agent are aware that Real Madrid will make a strong offer, without entering into a financial bidding war against the financial power of the Premier League and state-owned clubs.

The player’s willingness will be of paramount importance, and there is a belief in Valdebebas that his intent is to join the Madrid project.

The player’s representative has not concealed his admiration for Real Madrid. In a recent interview with Fabrizio Romano, Huoseh, of Palestinian origin, openly expressed his preference: “I don’t mean to diminish Bayern, but Real Madrid and their 14 Champions… I’ve always been a fan of that team, and hearing that they are interested in a player I represent fills me with pride.”
