AC Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has received the Tapiro d’Oro for the ninth time.
The ‘Golden Tapir’ statue is handed by the comedy show Striscia la notizia to politicians or celebrities who have humiliated themselves.
It’s the ninth time Ibrahimovic has received the dishonour, although this is the first time as an advisor.
Despite the embarrassment, the Swede was humble enough to accept the award, and even saw the funny side, before making a serious comment.
“We are disappointed and angry, the Tapiro is well deserved,” he said. “It was not a positive moment.
“There was a lack of maturity, but now the goal is to stay united as a group for Serie A and the Coppa Italia.”
On paper, Ibrahimovic is just an advisor at Milan, but has taken on a de-facto role as sporting director, and it’s not exactly gone brilliantly.
He’s already sacked his first coaching hire – Paulo Fonseca – and reports claim Sergio Conceicao is now under pressure.
The latter did win the Supercoppa in impressive fashion, but defeat to an injury-hit Feyenoord side in the Champions League play-offs has caused plenty of red faces, or gold in Zlatan’s case.
