Xabi Alonso has spoken for the first time since reports emerged that he could be sacked if Real Madrid lose to Manchester City.
Multiple Spanish outlets claimed a crisis meeting was held after a 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo, leaving Alonso‘s future in doubt.
He’s now responded ahead of that game, and was asked about rumours of a Liverpool return with Arne Slot also under threat.
“For the moment, my place is here,” he replied.
“I am where I want to be, I don’t know what the future holds.”
He was also asked about reports he’s lost the dressing room and responded: “It’s a team effort, we’re all united.
“When you’re the Real Madrid coach , you’re prepared. I’m really looking forward to seeing what lies ahead, and it starts tomorrow.
“We need to turn things around, which is understandable. We’re only thinking about City. In football, things can change very quickly, for better or for worse.
“When you manage Real Madrid, you’re prepared for every situation. Communication is constant; we’re all in this together.”
