Vitor Roque’s disastrous Barcelona transfer continues to get worse.
The 19-year-old striker joined from Athletico Paranaense in January in a club record €30million departure, joining six months early as a Gavi injury opened up a spot in the squad.
Compared to Real Madrid’s Endrick, things didn’t work out for Roque who barely appeared, and when Xavi made suggestions he didn’t even want him, the same comments were coming back the other way.
Barcelona quickly made it clear that Roque would not be with them in 2024/25, and some reports claimed they were already open to a sale.
Now on loan at Real Betis, the striker has made it clear that he’d also be happy to leave after just 14 appearances and two goals.
“I had six or seven months when I didn’t smile and I had difficult moments there, but that’s over now,” he told ABC. “I’m here and happy. That’s the most important thing.
“I want to play here at Betis. I would like that very much. I have spoken to my parents about that. It’s a good life here and I would love to play more here.
“Here I see that it is a big team and I was clear about that. Betis is a very big team and many forwards have played here, like Ricardo Oliveira or Denilson. I hope I can score as much as them.
“I train to play well and score. But the important thing is not only to be able to score goals, but to help the team.”
