Viktor Gyokeres’ agents have continued their war of words with former employers Sporting.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas played hardball throughout the summer, eventually pocketing €63million with an additional €10m in add ons from Arsenal.
Reports claimed the Swede’s agents lost out on commission to get the deal done, and they’ve now hit out at Sporting and made some other bold claims.
Jonathan Chalkias, assistant to Hasan Çetinkaya, told the ‘Studio Allsvenskan’ podcast: “These were such crazy amounts [of Saudi Arabia’s offers]… We’re supposed to act in our own best interests.
“Do we also have a percentage? Of course. It’s a lot of money. Maybe Viktor should respond to that one day. I don’t think we pressured him once to accept the offer.
“At the end of the day, money comes and goes. And this move to Arsenal also brings us a lot of marketing.”
Turning to Sporting he hit out at Varandas, adding: “They had concluded a deal with Manchester United behind our backs, and that was a problem. United offered a higher transfer fee…
“Had Hugo Viana had still been at Sporting at the time, the negotiations would have been finalized in an hour.”
