Toni Kroos was named the Laureus Sporting Inspiration Award winner on Monday night, but ended the event rather grumpy.
Kroos became only the fourth recipient of such award for his incredible career as a serial winner at Real Madrid.
Yet afterwards at a press conference he was reminded just how big his former side are when a reported kept trying to question him about them.
Things got tense as Kroos tried to shut the conversation down, and this is how it went.
Kroos vs reporter
Reporter: “I want to ask about—not a teammate of yours—but now a Real Madrid player, about Kylian Mbappé.”
Kroos: “Look, we can stop now. I’m not going to answer any more questions about Real Madrid, okay? If anyone has questions about Madrid or anything, otherwise we’ll end it here.”
Reporter: “What does it mean to you that people still talk about you, saying…?”
Kroos: “That’s a Real Madrid question, my friend. I don’t feel comfortable.”
Reporter: “Look, the fact that people still talk about you—do you think every team needs a driving force, a creator like you in football right now?”
Kroos: “That’s not about Real Madrid, it’s about everyone.”
Reporter: “But with that question, it means you think Madrid doesn’t have that.”
Kroos: “Yeah, yeah… I’m not stupid.”
We can only assume that El Chiringuito won’t be getting accreditation again.
