Toni Kroos’ current contract at Real Madrid will expire in the summer, opening the door for a potential Bernabeu departure.
However, leaving the Spanish capital is the last thing on the 34-year-old’s mind.
Relevo report that Kroos has comprehensively decided that Real Madrid will be his final club in football, and he will retire and stay in the city where his family are at home.
Linked with a move back to Germany, that now appears out of the question, with it up to Madrid to decide how long he continues playing.
Los Blancos have shown in the past that there’s no special treatment for club legends, and they’re doing it again with Luka Modric, who has been demoted to the bench at the age of 38.
So far Kroos has avoided the same treatment, although that might change when Carlo Ancelotti has a fully-fit squad, allowing Eduardo Camavinga to move back into midfield.
Relevo also claim that Kroos is likely to accept Julian Nagelsmann’s call, should the Germany manager ask him to come out of international retirement.
With a home tournament at Euro 2024 on the way, Kroos is believed to be edging towards a last dance, before finding out if he’s set for the same destiny in Madrid.
