After attacking the club’s training ground, Sevilla fans have made a disturbing threat to the club’s president.
The Europa League kings went eight games winless against Celta, diving into a relegation battle, and fans kicked down a gate at the entrance of the club’s training ground.
The players were locked in overnight, yet next time out they beat Las Palmas 1-0, securing their LaLiga survival for next season.
However – even with safety confirmed, a doll with a Sevilla scarf has now appeared hanging from a bridge in the capital with a banner that reads: ‘Júnior, this will be the end of you’.
This refers to club president José María del Nido Carrasco, who took over the reigns from his father in an ugly public wrangle.
Yet things haven’t got any better for the incumbent, who is taking the blame for the club’s struggles.
Near-constants in LaLiga’s European spots since their top flight return in 2001, this will be their third season in the bottom half of the table.
To make matters worse rivals Real Betis are flying, while financial issues are dogging the club leading to the sale of many of their best players.
Del Nido Carrasco Junior’s appearances at the club have been reduced in recent weeks, not turning up to games and public appearances, with suggestions changes could be afoot this summer.
