Fenerbahce presidential candidate Sadettin Saran has named Sergio Conceicao as his Jose Mourinho replacement, should he win September’s elections.
Saran made the comment after Mourinho was sacked following a defeat to Benfica which knocked Fenerbahce out of Champions League qualifying in the final round.
He said in a statement: “Given that there are 23 days left until the extraordinary congress, the decision regarding the new coach is of great importance.
“We are obliged to announce that our candidate for coach is Sergio Conceicao. We urge our board to take immediate action.
“Sergio Conceicao is ready to come to our club under better conditions than our former coach José Mourinho.
“Given Sergio Conceicao’s ambitious and enthusiastic character, we are convinced that he will lead us to the success we so desire.
“We hope that our board will act in accordance with this vision and thinking.”
Conceicao has been unemployed since June when he was sacked by AC Milan, where he won the Italian Super Cup.
