Arrests and criminal charges have been filed after a massive brawl between Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Cologne fans on Saturday night.
Local Ruhr outlet WDR claims that Schalke fans were on a train back from an away win over Magdeburg when they pulled the emergency brake and shot into a nearby forest where Dortmund and Cologne supporters were waiting.
They add that around 300 Schalke fans were met by Federal and Dortmund police who had to ferry them back to the train which was later able to restart.
In the forest were an estimated 90 Dortmund fans and more from Cologne.
Numerous items were found and confiscated including boxing bandages, gloves, mouth guards and ski masks.
A helicopter was also deployed to pick up individuals fleeing the scene.
Arrests were made and criminal charges have been filed for dangerous interference with rail traffic, misuse of emergency call systems, and bodily harm.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
