Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi has been added to the shortlist of next Real Madrid managers.
The Italian, who has only just started his first full season at the AmEx, could compete with Xabi Alonso for the role, according to Cadena SER.
Reports earlier in the week claimed that Alonso has been chosen as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor next season.
However, the Spaniard recently extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, which could complicate matters.
Should Alonso not be available, and Brighton continue to impress in their first-ever European campaign, De Zerbi’s chances may increase.
Insider Jesús Gallego said: “There are other coaches on the market that Real Madrid also likes.
“Coaches that they are following and who do not have a Real Madrid past, which is something that can sometimes serve as a something for and something against.
“Brighton is the top scorer for now and the team gives a show.”
