Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has offered a comprehensive response to reports Jurgen Klopp could be sacked, but there’s no smoke without fire.
The former Liverpool manager continues to be linked with a return to coaching having become RB’s Head of Global Soccer at the start of 2025.
Such reports, often linking him with Real Madrid, are often very flimsy, but on this occasion there’s more to discuss.
Salzburger Nachrichten are often first to all things Red Bull, and have claimed that neither party are particularly happy with the current situation.
They claim Klopp is reportedly “no longer undisputed” and is being “viewed with increasing scepticism” while a split is being discussed.
However, Mintzlaff has acted quickly to dismiss the claims, telling SID: “That’s complete nonsense and totally unfounded.
“We are extremely satisfied with Jürgen Klopp’s work. He invests a great deal, is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and is sustainably developing our Red Bull football philosophy.
“We are convinced that he is the right man for this job. We are focusing all our attention and energy on this.”
Klopp out, Glasner in?
However, adding more fuel to the fire is the fact that Klopp and his agent Marc Kosicke declined to comment on the speculation when asked by SID.
German outlet Sport1 add that RB would not stand in Klopp’s way if his desire was to return to coaching.
They further claim that soon-to-depart Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been mooted as a replacement.
