Antonio Rüdiger is set for a new contract at Real Madrid that could upset their squad planning.
The Germany defender is in sublime form ahead of his current deal running out in 2026.
And so keen are Madrid to keep him, that Sky Germany report they’re willing to hand him a multi-year deal.
That would be a huge change of plan for Florentino Perez and his management team who have strictly stuck to a rule of only offering players over the age of 30 one-year deals.
Rudiger turned 32 in March, but is showing no signs of slowing down and is one of Real’s most important players, particularly during their current defensive injury crisis.
He’s also attracted interest from the big spending Saudi Pro League, which may well be contributing to Madrid’s willingness to break their contract rules
