Real Madrid have been getting used to travelling to Liverpool, but they won’t be allowed to again next season, at least in the league phase of the Champions League.
UEFA rules for the new league phase state that a team cannot play away at the stadium three seasons in a row.
This is the second year Madrid travel to Anfield, having lost 2-0 there in last season’s Champions League.
Despite that defeat, Los Blancos have very much had the upper hand on the Reds, having recording seven wins and a draw in their previous eight meetings, including two Champions League final triumphs.
Xabi Alonso’s side will likely be happy to face their foes again next season, and will be able to at the Bernabeu, just not Anfield.
